Fishing in the Baltic Sea
The most popular type of angling in the Baltic Sea is catching cod from a boat. Typically, ground fishing line or spinning is used for shore fishing in the Baltic Sea. Shrimp or fish pieces are used as bait to lureplaice, turbots, breams, cods, European breams and eels. Spinning is used to catch needlefish, bull-trout, sometimes salmon, perch or pikeperch is caught. Annual amateur anglers’ competition for shore fishing takes place in the regional park of the seaside. In summer one can hope to catch freshwater fish such as perch, zander, and breams. Eels are caught by using ground fishing line.
Most recommended fishing sites – are along the Olando Cap which range as far as Karklė. Shore fishing is forbidden in the beach territory. Fishing is allowed only in Plocis Reserve area, which verges the outfall of the streamlet Rikinė at Karklė and ranges about 5 km southwards.
